Tiger Woods is much better than Virtua Tennis, and Dead Ball Zone doesnt really seem to fit in given its chronic age. Virtua Fighter 4 is also much better than Guilty Gear. Also this is a LOT of games so acquiring them all will be difficult / costly and some of them take a fair bit of practice to get into, especially the beat -em- ups. Plus youve missed out an entire an very imprtant genre, being MGS 3 - coming comptetion mode, Splinter Cell - no doubt really cool head to head and Syphon Filter - best score teamplay

That's what the discussion is for. I'm heading to the train station now but it has to be a quick visit.

Since when was Virtua Fighter 2D? And I can't think of anything that tops Dead Ball Zone in that space.

Price isn't a problem, we can rent what can't be fished out of a bargain bin.

I would like to bring in some non-competative games here as challenge modes going off a leaderboard. Streetfighter has been way too done, I'd rather have the spririt of the sub genre but have something worth playing too

i think we should get a short list together, then vote on ONE game from each genre, thers no way A. everybody wud buy or rent that many games and B. wed never have the time to compete properly on each game. dunno if that was the idea anyway, but thats wot i reckon

Most of the rounds would be less then a minute between two players. We'd have to be strategically picking which levels in certain areas that keep it short but represent the genre. The entire tournament would be a mad information overload, and a lot of these games are owned by members and seeing as it would be a one day event renting isn't too much of a problem.

We probably will need some multiples, especially the on the longer length games. The fighting games will be over in no time, and we can always run a few different events of several different consoles.

rant i must! Timesplitters 2? 3 is much better! Soul Calibur 3 might not even be released by then and if it is you have a week or two to practice. Killzone!! !?!?!?!!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! ??!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? Doesn't anyone have Halo? don't give a crap about the sports games and why no Mario Kart in the racers? are you mad?

Imay subdivide Eclectic into Sci-Fi and Party if there is enough demand, and if the hardware can be supplied I'll replace Killzone with Halo 2 (on the merits that I personally find the slow style boring but Killzone is just an immitater and not a 'beater). I'll poll the Timesplitters games, but my arguement is that TS2 had a purer gameplay experience that '3 diluted by making bigger levels.

mmm... Very possible, makes us look better. Needs thinking on. If we get the funding AND get past the checks for use it's a good idea.

well, i've got the game, ps2 and 2 pads, admittdly there is only Mexican Mission, Chinese and Training Ground the latter being pretty crap imo, but some of the lvls are good, like Subway.

Subway is loads of fun, put for too big to keep it tight enough within the tournament. And every time I've played it, it turned into a pointless fight over the subway controls.
