apprantly are rules are 'too focused on squads and tactics and its boring' and 'its stupid that weve scaled down charcters'.

Whoo hoo.. saving a lot of effort on eveyone elses part and making a desert table.
So we wont need any scenery bringing over, unless theres anything deserty that we've got? nothing springs to mind.
Oh, bring that small lake, and any palm trees if we still have any in one peice, that can be an oasis.
Its a 6' by 4' board, desert colours, with LOTS of sand dunes, rocks, a couple of spires, and if I can be arsed and find inspiration, ill make some cacti.

haha, i was just thinking, damn I should have done this when I started TKs.
also, back in the day of gorkarama.
I need some ideas, making tons on dunes which on one tear gives light cover, 2 tiers heavy cover, and 3 tiers completly obscures vision.
But I need something to cut up the table a bit more as its quite open. fat rock spires work, but I dont have the materials for that. Large rocks would do, but they are a bit boring. Could do with a sphinx (lol) or a runined temple, or I might make some kind of desert outpost.

What about using some old tanks as derelicts etc, or making part of a downed spacecraft/airship etc?

Hey, if i lived on that side of pond I'd bring my temple over or maybe the giant stone gargoyle...
Say why a 6'x4' table? How does this impact the deployment zone?

6'x4' or 8'x4' are the norm as gaming tables go, the width isnt really that important, but the bredth must be 4' to give 12" from the edge of each table side for deployment and 24" between the zones. the width of the deployment zone is determined by the width of the board. eg on a 6'x4' each deployment zone would be 4'x1'

Yeah, whatever length the board is, the deployment zones are always 12" on and 12" in from either edge. (always giving 12" flanks).
8'x4'! Whoa! that would be huge! Youd never meet your opponent in a 4 turn battle lol. I think 6by4 is plenty big enough.
tturen, what size table do you play on then? We are normally on a 5by4, but only because of space restrictions.
Cheers for the ideas Simon, ill come up with something.

"tturen, what size table do you play on then? We are normally on a 5by4,"
We use 8x4 tables. If we used smaller ones I think we would scale down the deployment zone or reduce the points used. Massed deployment zones on small tables otherwise would be template heaven/movement hell. Its hard enough to correctly deploying say a complete 2000 point IG force on an 8x4 table and we always use 2000 points or 3000 with allied commanders. 3000 gets pretty cramped. 5x4 would be rather small.
