We play on a 9'x5' table. Huge, I know. It's really a ping-pong table. For small games, we play 4.5'x5' (half the table). We use 12" deployment zones, but have the game last an extra turn before going to random game length (a rule we always use. We had one game go on for 9 turns once! Of course, there were very few models on the table, so the last 3 turns only took about 15 minutes total)

That is huge indeed! We know our 5*4 is too small really, but thats what we are restricted to. we always play 2l point games and they generally go ok, just not much space for flank manouvers. We also play a standard game length of 4 turns, which is plenty on our size table.
6*4 is the default isnt it thou? (thats what ive made).

we used to use random game length too, we didint use it in our tournaments though to add a bit more consistency to the games. As a result we never reverte dback to random game length, though it used to be pretty intersting, it forced a more tactical chocie of army, for example one with no manoevrability was doomed in a 3 turn battle.
Ideally we'd us a 6X4 table and do whenever opportunity allows. We've tried a few games on an 8X4 but they were both abandoned at 2,000 point level! Anyhting over that htough and i'd like to try it. We used an 8X4 table for the first fantasy torunament and that was a disatser, it was 2,000 points but some of the battle s had stnadoffs and untis only met right at the end!
Come of wednesday night charly? i may as well head of wed afternoon....i cant give up a lot of time at the moment because of the workload with uni. + i could really do 4 or 5 peple jsut to film a ten minute presentation for the benefit of my Dissertation!
