Below is an image of a battle against the Margonite's at Jennur's Horde. What is distinguishing is the small trench or earthwork that the party has occupied. This takes a unique dynamic in Guild Wars and was key to overcoming the Margonite attack that at one point was coming from both sides. With the initial occupation, the ranged elements of the party engage the incoming margonites, their attacks hitting more often than the enemies thanks to the cover provided by the raised sides of the tench. Once battle closes the margonites are forced to push down into the trench were the melee attackers engage, This is brutal and chaotic but unlike an exposed area were the melee attackers can simply go round to engage the healers and casters they are forced to go through the melee fighters, which with good monk support makes them very difficult to shift. All the while the melee attackers do not get the support from their archers or casters as they have a harder time hitting the trench occupiers. Terrain makes a big difference in Guild Wars, and I've only just begun to notice Fir example, it is very very hard to capture a flight of stairs from a defending enemy, as your ranged attacks and ability to target are greatly hampered. Occupy any cover and it becomes much easier to hold than if exposed. Similarly you can often dodge attacks by literally moving to the side all things to bear in mind the next time you head out!

ah, the wonders of shadowstep, it doesnt matter how many melee fighters are blocking the path, the enemy monks are going to get cut to pieces

Bastard shadow step I have managed to kill monk assassins in PvP before though, thanks to their shock at my use of smite, in particular bane signet You up for a PvP game at some point Laharl, with Factions you can make a team of four at the Guild Hall and go and fight in one of the larger battles. It puts your team alongside about 6 other teams to form an army and off you go! Plus those battles earn our guild faction points which is good for prestige, otherwise the faction plummets each day

I've got you some perfect doom daggers of shinyness, I just need to give them to you!
Talking about terrain, elevation also effects projectile damage. Maybe not by much but in a close fight the smallest difference can count.
