This is an important question, raised by 2003 Champion Adam May and input from as many people as possible would be much appreciated (even if your not taking part). Last year we introduced Seeds, (actually May's idea) with the idea that separating the previous years finalists in the first round so they could only meet later would make for a higher quality Tournament. That meant that Mike Brandon (2004 Champion) started in Group A and Adam May (2004 runner-up) started in Group B with the rest of the participants randomly inserted. Mike won Group A and May came second in Group B so they met each other in the Semi-final.
Using the same scenario James Brown would be seeded into Group A as 2005 Champion and Mike Brandon into Group B as 2005 runner-up.
The counter debate comes in that it should be based on player ranks, not past year performance, and some might say we should do away with seeds altogether (that could mean the top 4 players end up in a group together).
Whatever is decided needs to outline the objectives for future tournaments, personally i would say that last years finalists are seeded and if qualification is necessary then 3rd place automatically qualifies, this gives a good breakdown of achievements available, 1st and 2nd is better but 3rd place gets you into next year at least.
What do you think?

I think seeds are a good idea, at least if you want to attach any importance to coming in 2nd. If the 4 best players are all in the same group, your "2nd Place" finalist may in fact be your 5th best player. If you don't really care about who comes in 2nd, don't worry about it

Can everyone who can please vote on this - at elast ten votes are needed to get a decent outlook.

As a side note, is the seeding system going to be in warhammer (I think that it was last year)?
Also, if 3rd place auto qualifies, then maybe the top ranked players over the past 12 months should aswell...

dont see the need for that, its a tournament not a ladder.
If your good enough to be highly ranked, you shouldnt be silly enough to not qualify. But on the other hand, you may not be a high player who managed to grab a quaifing place last tourn, which is fair enough.
