Well, yes. After watching Dara O'Briain's Tough Gig at a LARP society, two of my housemates are becoming slightly obsessed and overexcited about joining a LARP group. They want me to, as well. The dressing up I'm all for (hey, I got really excited about the suggestion of the Cosplay event), but it's the acting and noncing about in the woods I'm a bit wary of. Just wondered if anyone had any experiences of LARP societies, or if we do try it, if anyone else wants to come along and piss themselves laughing at Simon and Tim dressed as a dwarf and an elf.

The one in Liverpool demanded that you buy a £200 costume from them or you couldn't play! Other ones i have had a go at usually involve some social reject doing a peter griffin-esque laugh at you and pronouncing you are dead, how anyone is supposed to resist resorting to violence in that situation I do not know. . . .

That would prove problematic, as I would make my own costume cause I'm well picky (and a funny shape). I'm pretty sure there'll be a group in Leeds. There's a society in the Leeds union, but now none of us are students that's a bit moot. I hope they're not out today in the torrential rain! Upon further reflection, I think the obsession goes back further than just the Tough Gig. I'm reminded of when we visited the Royal Armouries, and Simon got overexcited in the gift shop... (I've been waiting for an excuse to post this for months ;D)

Strange how that suits him. Photoshop the skin green... Superimpose legs all around him... Ladies and gentlemen, we have a feral goblin!
