probably VII for me, although i did enjoy the IX and XII endings, the VIII one is just weird and the X ending is a fucking disgrace, one of the worst RPG endings ever.

I am in fact torn between 8 & 10, they have the most human endings, a consequently the largest impact if you've enjoyed the story. I see Final Fantasy as a different from of a story rather than a game with a great story. When Yuna hits the deck in 10, its so clumsy as to be believable, and as such I really felt for the two characters. Up until that point it had never occurred to me so the ending was both a shock and one of Final Fantasy's most brilliant ever moments. I also liked 8 for the way it tied Laguna and Squall together and it was all rather sad , 8 was also the most brilliant for its CG sequences, the invasion of Dollet I've still rarely seen rivaled in actual cinema. I also think the other endings were great though, but 8 & 10 were my favourites

I'd say X, because it did so much narratively. Both doing something new and having great emotional impact. I wouldn't say VII because so little happens, and this isn't even to antagonise Laharl. Let me sum up the VII ending.
1: Thrill of seeing all the characters fully rendered. 2: Well done fucktards, everything you just went through may have been meaningful on a personal level, but means jack shit to the world. Some heroes you turned out to be. 3: End.
