The original Tomb Raider is one of my favourite games of all time, it was the first game I feel to do a lot of things, particularly the feel of actually exploring some vast world etc so when I heard they had done a remake I was quite interested (having given up on the series about half way through TR 2 ).
Subsequently, Anniversary has become one of the first games in a long time that I've actually spent extra time unlocking things and getting the most out of it that I could (last game was KH II i think), it managed to successfully recreate the original game, and return Lara to the status of explorer again as opposed to, well you know the rest. My only quip is that the environments are now so good that it has lost a little bit of the isolating feeling, and the better looking enemies are less scary , that said this is the best PS2 game I've seen, though God of War 2 (and of course Shadow) may contest that. The unlockables are pretty good for fans of the original too, and a few listens to the commentary (this works quite cleverly, with commentary dubbed over the actual gameplay if you wish), proves that the creators loved the original and have faithfully recreated it to the point that the experience compliments the memories of the original rather than erase or despoil them, something the MGS remake failed entirely *shudders*. It has given me faith though that if the team that may end up remaking FF7 take a leaf out of the TR Anniversary team then that could be very special indeed (as opposed to the terror I'd expect).
Since nobody has posted in the FAQ sections for a long time I thought I'd offered my services here having covered the entire game a few times.
Some notes I found particular though, and I'll use it in the context of the Centaur boss, when using the adrenalin dodge keep hold of L1 to lock-on and the use right analogue to switch targets if the wrong Centaur is charging you, this can help get the shields off them easier. I forgot about that and spent a good half hour getting murdered until I looked at the manual.
Another point is that tapping triangle makes you swim faster and also shimmy on ledges faster, another thing I forgot that made some timed puzzles impossible
If anyone else has the pleasure of playing this, and gets stuck gimme a shout
