i've been goign on for months about gtting a PAL ps2 to play NTSC games with little success, then it hit me this morning, "why dont i just get an american one?" all the games i want are only out in america anyway, and there are surplus PAL ps2s around to be able to play my other games. looking at about $95 delivered, $40 of which are delivery costs >:[ Persona 3 is still a bit pricey but Tales of the Abyss is nice and cheap, plus i can importfuture titles and save a bit of money. PS2 has life in it than ps3 lol

Not lifespan though. Haters annoy me, don't write the PS3 off! Just wait until it has the games you want before you buy it!
Youtube is the best. All the 360 emo kids whining about upcoming PS3 exclusive games and hoping they'll go onto 360 like some other series. If the console wars can outlast this Sony hating (where every criticism also applies to the competition too) then the problem of series jumping ship should solve itself. The PS3 will pull away from the 360 to the point where games can't be lazily knocked off for both, it just takes time for developers to get to grips with programming Sony consoles. Hideo Kajima will probably be the first to make a 'true' PS3 game (apart from minor details like on Motor Storm the 360 can't handle). It remains to be seen yet, but I'd like to point retards to the history of the Playstation consoles.
Compare... FF7 to FF8 Fade to Black to MGS Timesplitters to Timeplitters 2 and 3 MGS2 to MGS3 (especially what they did on Subsistance with the 3rd person view) Even FFX and FFXII show a leap in quality (arguements over which is the best of the two games aside).
360 and Wii are capped. You are never going to see anything more complex then what they have now. Their cap is impressive and arguably better then what's been knocked off on the PS3 so far (the fanboy in me would like to point out that Sony knock offs are keeping pace with the best the others have to offer), but that's it from now on. They'll still have good game son them, but no new improvements. Sequels will just be mission packs and so on and so forth while the PS3 can evolve.
I expect Laharl to kick off. I hope he does, and I'll make sure to quote him so he can't modify his posts, because in a year or two I'll be proven right and I'm going to make him eat all of his words.
The best is going to be his Wii inovation arguement, just try and bait me. I'm ready and waiting to trap you. You have been warned.

Wii and PS3 are flailing about like cripples at the moment (woo Metroid was released, that makes two worthwhile wii titles ), 360 has the best games but doesnt actually work a lot of the time to be able to play them. There are a shit load of america only RPGs on PS2, you dont most them so there's no point listing them, seeing as 90% of my interests lies with (console) RPGs that is the best purchase for me. The next gen does offer much on the rpg front atm, the Western develooped Oblivion (meh), the badly made Blue Dragon with promises of that dodgy looking folksoul or whatever and FFXIII which is serious danger and dying in a whole if SE dont buck their ideas up. i see no need to get one of these consoles for a good year, maybe a wii for smash bros. but thats it

You're forgetting something very important. A US PS2 will be backwards compatable with everything Europe didn't get on the PS1. MORE RPG's!
