I think all axes in the entire 40k system are broken. Ive kinda just lumped it because no1 else seems to think this. Actually, I was commenting on Brown's point above. Force weapons have the benifit that if you expend the stored force card in the close combat phase, you gain +X strength and an additional -X modifier. The force axe does indeed have the +3 Str. -3 Sv bonus when doing this, and the sword only gets +2 Str. -2 Sv. So that's where that comes from, making an axe the weapon of choice for level 1 and 2 psykers and the sword or rod for a higher level.

Axes have no benefits. In any conceivable way. Double handed weapons don't exist, the ONLY exception being the power axe and GW staff unofficially adopting WH rules in some issues of White Dwarf. There's no difference between an axe and a rubber chicken, or a stick, or a dildo. Axes have no point other then to volunteer not to parry. That is IT.
