.. with sitting staring at army lists and books, and combos of wargear for hours on end.. ive got to curb this adiction.
On the upside however, I do make some pretty nice armys from time to time

Its one of the finer points of the game. I must admit I've never spent enough time looking at the wargear lists but then I tend not to use many characters beyond the required ones and my Wolf Lord has pretty much been outfitted the same way for years.
Yep, I need to crack open the lists again...

Like all the special items you can buy for characters, and also vehicle cards for things like armour and engines.
Theyre quite expensive, but if you choose wisely, you can greatly increase your characters abilities.

And if you choose unwisely, you throw away VP's for nothing... as a rule of thumb, work out what the next plausible VP barrier is (I say plausible because a Space Marine captian should never be left with only 4 points of equipment ) then tune them up to just below that. e.g. space marine techmarine. 33points = 17 points of equipment and wargear to be worth no VP's. That's easily enough for some utility equipings like krak grenades plus a haywire grenage. For 0VPs you aren't risking much. Just be ready to tune down your trimings to fit a squad in your list, a full squad will always serve you better then nitche or one shot wargear on a single obvious target.
