Now that sucks. Always loved the Hellhound.
The sustained fire weapons rule was one we always have ignored. If your within 4" of the target you eat lead.

wot was the context with the terms tho? mite have made u roll for partially covered ones.. you made me roll for them all, and didn't take fear tests either... oh well shit happens, say which takes priority with a flamer closeness of the target or amount of targets? say there are two marines next my hellhound would i have to flame them or the squad of ten twatishly positioned in a line a little further away?

i can only appologise if i did! sure that wasnt to wound or something? or was the terminator squad not visible from the hellhound? the terms u fought wer deathwing and therefore immune to pyscology so fear test wudnt have applied even if id have remembered about it lol!

okay that's fair enough about the fear test but they where stood right in front of it, although decimating your command squad behind them was highly amusing

Although flamers have to fire at the closest squad, as any weapon does, the advantage comes in that you can position your flamer to do maximum damage.. this is most appropriate when combined with fast moving units.. ie. jump packs, transports, or flamers mounted on bikes or tanks.

my personal favourite is two land speeders with heavy flamers making cross fire on a unit, literally.

I had the slight problem with the twin heavy flamers on a predator (sponsons). When are they ever going to be used on the same squad (seeing as there would be a big hull in the way). Then it all clicked for me. A ram move would separate a nice, large squad into two sections ready for roasting. Just need to spin those flamers around...

that was the idea behind my dark angel predator, dont think ive used it in many games, it has twin las, two heavy flamers, ablative armour (to hopefully survive being in enemy line for more than one turn) and a dozer blade for extra ramage

bit of a beast You could make such a good anti tyranid tank, with all that, auto launchers, electro hull.

Or such a good tank for my tyranids to use (see my genestealer cult list). I decided against tooling it up with upgrades other than those two sponsons, so it is stuck with the auto cannon turret. The decision was mainly made so that it could have a dedicated role, and point factored into it heavily (genestealer cult armies only get 25% support - so not that many tanks for me, which is why the marine ones were chosen as they are a lot cheaper).
