Do models get to save with personal fields against warp-based weaponry like Wraithcannons and Distort Cannons? Vortex grenades go right through diplacer fields, and I assume refractor/conversion fields wouldn't protect you either. Does the same go for other warp-energy weapons? I'm playing against a (probably) character-heavy Chaos force tonight, and I'd love it if my wraithguard could rip through him. If not, I've got two exarches with disarm for character neutralization. If you can't kill him, take his guns and swords away! The vortex grenade sucks the displacing character into the vortex, rather than letting him displace, so it does function differently than the distort cannon and wraithcannon, I guess.

The only noted exception to a field save is the vortex grenade. Of course a dodge save will still work. As for the weapons you mentioned the distort cannon is a template so it could work the same way as the vortex given that it distorts a whole 2" area. The problem is I don't recall any specific reference to this from GW. You would think the question would have come up long ago.
In any case best of luck!

I've done some more investigating on this topic and have an official ruling in regards to Wraithcannons and Distort Cannons.
From White Dwarf 191 'Rapid Fire' :
[glow=red,2,300]"No, the technology involved in these warp-based weapons bypasses any fields the target may be wearing."[/glow]
Seems this question did come up a long time ago!
