Sounds like 3rd/4th. Such as it is anyway. The game goes faster when you have less to think about... Moving and firing is just to complex for the game system.

Yep, but we are talking about a game system set in the year 40,000 or so that still doesn't allow tanks to move and fire their primary weapons either... Pathetic.

Someone in my local GW dared to say that because we have modified the rules to limit the number of characters available we are not playing a modified version of 2nd Ed, but a version of 4th Ed. The retard. We have different movement values for different troops, the ability to make tactical manouvres, the ability to have a blast marker scatter from its original target. The current rules set is just not mature, it has no depth, no continuity, no naffing movement values. Tim is a perfect example of how someone who has played Warhammer, but never played 40K, then comes into OGC and falls in love with the complexity of the system and the ability to do tactical manouvres and after only 2 small warm up games (we're talking just giving him info on the basic rules so he knows how things in his army should work) manages to put up a good performance in the tournament!
As a side note, does anyone know where I can get some sustained fire dice from?

I got mine off ebay. The complete rule sets for 2nd Ed don't come up that often, but they do still appear occasionally. Or just take a d6. 1 = jam 2-3 = 1 shot 4-5 =2 shots 6 = 3 shots.
Good Luck!

If the local game store guy likes you and knows you play with the 'old' rules they may give you some of these as they come in from time to time in trade/sale. Certainly worked for one of our players who scored a handful of SF dice that way!
