I think its pretty cool how everyone has adapted the system to meet the needs of their group. Theres no way GW could be challenged to revert back to a better system, its turend into full on corporate strategy: aiming for maximising profits over safeguarding the hobby, and in general the guardians of the sacred system (us!) can reap the benefits of all the new models they produce whilst enjoying a much superior system. I imagine that if I took my army to any of your groups, my tactics would be the same and would work the same, its only in the details and narration that our games would differ, and that point entirely revolves around the group itself, you tailor the details to peoples tastes. As long as our core body of rules is the same we can continue working together to enlighten each others ideas.
Anyway, at some point we could all converge for a 'global gaming week' - all put together to produce a big web article to show people across the world meeting to play 2nd ed. and throw that at the GW website, it'll at least get people thinking! ;D

Indeed! I think we've all tried to keep the heart of the rules thumping away and streaming through our heretic veins! I myself was shocked to discover how many 2nd Ed players are still around. At a recent 'bit s' sale at a local game store I talked with a number of 2nd Eder's and as it was during school hours no 3/4 Ed players were even around! So who's footing the travel bill for us anyway? The OGC budget looking flush?
