Not the power axe im thinkin about, its the normal axe, which is exactly the same as a sword with parry removed.. so an extra bit of armour penetration sounds good to me.

Because you can use a powerfist or melta bombs for -2 or +2 points. Altough to be fair you should not be able to use basic or special weapons if you have a power fist other than any default equipping (so can still have devastaor sgt with power fist and bolter). then again the power glove...ohhhhhh

Actually, the Wargear book states that the power field can be turned off at will, so you can use a power fist to throw a grenade, fire a two-handed weapon, etc. I wouldn't allow it on a turn you're going to use it in close combat, but since you can't charge and shoot in the same turn, it shouldn't be a problem.
