Memories from past Tournaments I was reading some of the past Tournament reports and found this quote from James Brown, after his semi-final victory over Monovie Asita in 2005; Brown: “He should have charged the Avatar at me, he would have got into my ranks and minced. The turn I got to shoot it I did nothing. It would have cost me my Immortals and Lord. Leaving the Dreadnought alone was a good decision, it did nothing and got me a victory point. The Guardians were slicey dice, I scored nothing.” some interesting analytical language

Can I have a translation for that please?
Probably my favourite memory of the tournaments would be 2006 - Lictor Man!!!!
The sheer joy of it tearing through one of Charly's flanks in my game against him and the absolute comedy of Luke sending tactical marines into combat with it in gangs of one or two so that he could take a not very pivotal piece of scenery are the highlights for me...

My absolute highlight by a mile (i was thinkig about it the other day), was my game against Simon 3 tournaments ago. Tyranids vs Sisters of battle. Around then everyone faced Nids by deploying towards the rear of their DZ and trying the classic kill as many as possible before they are ontop of you, then just do what you can. But I re-wrote the 'commbating nids' tactics book - A small squad of SOB deployed on the front line, moved forwards in my turn 1 to face the wave of 32" moving nids, armed with plasma nades, they threw their nades from close range, meaning in the nids turn they had to charge through the plasma clouds, only to engage my squad just a few inches away, negating their huge movement, and buying the bulk of my army a whole extra shooting phase! - Once his army got close, my tanks and my 2 squads of Jumping Seraphim caused massive problems by jumping behind them, splitting their army up and flamming away, my main battle force was spilt into 2 again further diluting the nids numbers. I truley had you out manouvered in just about every way, was massive rofles for me. Only thing that went badly was my Sister Superior jumping into combat with your Hive Tyrant, she was armed with 2 melta pistols, which tbh stood a reasonable chance of killing it, but its saves came off and she was eaten lol. After that game, everyone started sending a cheap squad forwards to buy an extra turn of shooting for the main force

I particularly enjoyed my game against Simon in 2006, a very tough game with an amazing show of resilience from the Death Guard against the Genestealers! I've been teaching a guy at work how to play and that came up when demonstrating armour saves with him. That was the point that you capitalised on so well in the game. I have fond memories of taking revenge though in tournament 2008 with the spore mine knocking your berzerkers off overwatch, saving my hormagaunts from cover fire...
