We have several options for how this summers Tournament should be conducted . . .
Inevitably OGCs members are spreading out with their life pursuits so the total number of players is expected to be lower this year.
So far confirmed is: Mark Berkley, Mike Brandon, James Brown, Andrew Townley with expected confirmation from Adam May. Luke Greensmith has expressed a 50/50 possibility that he will play.
Meanwhile Simon Gray has confirmed he will not be playing this year.
This leaves an estimated 5-6 players for the Tournament so here are the proposed formats:
Format One (5 players) A group stage whereby everyone plays each other once. The top 2 then contest the final while 3rd and 4th contest the 3rd place play-off. This format was used in Tournament 2004 (http://www.ogc.org.uk/Files/Events/40kTournaments/40kTournamentinMotion2004/Events.html)
Format Two (6 players) The standard format of two groups (with last years 1st and 2nd seeded), with the winner of each group playing the runner-up in the other in a semi-final.
Format Three (6 players) As above but in each players play each other twice (for a total of 4 games each in the group stage)
Format Four (7 players) If we have 7 entrants then as Format Two but with one group having 4 players.
So any suggestions as to this years format?
