I recently got the Space Marine Commander boxed set, and while we don't allow Lightning Claws on power armor, I just couldn't resist. Brother Captain Torath Thunderclaw wears a powerfist with digilasers, and this is how he used to look: Front view farm1.static.flickr.com/32/61153060_531e7048b9_b.jpg(Look closely; he's the one with the jumppack. You have to see the largest size to see him, so there's just a link) And this is how he looks now! With a link to my photostream where you can see several views of him: www.flickr.com/photos/warhammerhouse/2841831236/He will still play the same as before, with a powerfist, plasma pistol, and digilasers, but now he stands out better as a captain, rather than just a sergeant with red fingers on his powerfist.

There have been a lot of fears over the commander box set generally sucking. Although I like the idea of a lot of options to make whatever I like, whats the verdict? I'd like to see a Chaos one done (or has it already ) Can you make more than one model out of the boxed set? Recently I've been combining special weapons sprues with berzerker body parts (filed) and Night Lord heads and shoulder pads to make my unique characters. Nice table by the way!

What the blue table? Heh. It's my bed. And my current painting area. We've moved into a smaller house. <sigh> Oh well.
The Commander set comes with one torso and one set of legs, two right arms, five right-hand weapons (MC plasma pistol, bolt pistol, combi plasma, combi-melta, and stormbolter), and four left arms: Lightning Claw, Powerfist, Powersword, and bionic arm w/ chainsword. You also get three heads, one backpack w/eagle heads, and a bunch of fiddly bits:back banner, iron halo, various little icons... Oh, and three pairs of shoulder pads (pauldrons, whatever). On the whole, not a bad deal for $8 bucks (on ebay). I probably wouldn't pay full price for it, which is $15 here in the states, but then I'm cheap. I may yet pay full price for a forgeworld dreadnought heavy plasma, but not for much else.
The Chaos Terminator Lord looks like it has several different weapons options. Some of the "Lords" are listed as metal, and I doubt they get much customisation. But the one's that aren't listed as metal are probably plastic, and may have different options. On the other hand, the Space Marine Commander set states that it comes with options, while none of the Chaos ones do. Still, they do show the Terminator Lord with two different load-outs. Sorry I can't give better info.
On a totally different note, the Thousand Sons Chaos Lord seems a particularly terrible model. Who's idea was it to put a pipe organ on his back?!?!?!? It's bad enough on the Exorcist!
edit: I meant the Emperors Children Chaos Lord, not the thousand Sons one.

Oops. I meant the Emperor's Children Chaos Lord. Not the Thousand Sons. Slaanesh, not Tzentch. Sorry. Here's a link to the US page. I couldn't find him on the UK one. www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020025&prodId=prod1090256&rootCatGameStyle= Okay, he's there, he's just further down the page, under Slaanesh, instead of generic Chaos HQ. 7 pounds + shipping Thanks! Yes, the snowy look is easy to achieve. Throw a white bedsheet over your gaming table (we use a ping-pong table. It's a little large, but we play for at least 5 turns to make up for it). The day after Christmas, hit all the craft stores in your area and pick up their left-over trees for cheap (you might want to wait until two days after Christmas if you're allergic to crowds). Then shape some white packing styrofoam into some hills, and there you are! Quick and easy arctic region. Here's a link to the Chaos Terminator Lord Sprues: uk.games-workshop.com/chaosspacemarines/assembling-chaos-lord/1/Looks like a lot of options you can use. It also looks like you might be able to use the arms on power-armoured bodies, as the shoulder pauldrons appear to be separate from the arms. (And I hit 500 posts! )
