+ + + James Brown on course to challenge Tournament record Brown's victory yesterday was his eleventh successive Tournament victory, closing in on the current record held by Mike Brandon at 15 successive Tournament victories, beginning in 1999 and ending in defeat by Adam May in the 2003 final. Bizzarely Brown also holds the record for longest string of Tournament defeats, at 8, however if Andrew Townley loses his next 2 40k games he will top this record with 9 successive Tournament defeats.

+ + + Simon Gray fractures foot Simon Gray, prior to his game in the Fantasy Tournament against Luke Greensmith managed to fracture his foot on his way to the table following a fall. A trip to the hospital earlier today confirmed his injuries by x-ray. Asked how this will affect his Tournament, Simon is determined to carry on, however there are concerns he may have to be recalled to Leeds for treatment and withdrawal from the Tournament. Simon's 40k group B game against Mike Brandon this afternoon has been postponed, with all of todays action now focusing on Group A. Simon's progress will be analysed at tomorrows Magic Tournament to assess whether he can continue in the Tournament. Simon however remained upbeat, Tim Harness also saw the funny side, commenting at Southport General Hospital, "He walks like he's shat himself!"

+ + + Simon Gray withdraws from Tournament
Simon Gray announced his withdrawal from Tournament 2007 on Saturday. He is to begin physio in Leeds next week. Simon made his final appearance in the Tournament on Saturday, picking up 2nd place in the Magic: the gathering Tournament. Elsewhere Simon's withdrawal means his draw with Adam May in 40k, and victory over Luke and defeat to Mike Brandon in Fantasy will now be withdrawn from the roster, costing Mike and May points. Commenting Simon expressed his regret but was pleased with obtaining at least one podium position.

+ + + Andrew Townley makes 40k Semi's Andrew 'Charly' Townley's victroy over Monovie tonight caps a successful end to a long string of Tournament games, beginning with qualification in March. It is the first time Andrew has appeared beyond the first round since achieving 3rd place in 2004. With James Brown also moving into the Semi-finals, it means two Space Marine armies will feature in the Semi-finals, giving a good chance that at least one will appear in the final, a feat never achieved by a Space Marine army before. Space Marines have appeared on the podium only once, under the command of Mark Berkley in 1999.

+ + + Andrew Townley scrapes through to first ever final in Sudden Death! Last night the first ever OGC Tournament game went to sudden death with Mike Brandon and Andrew Townley drawing 5-5 after four turns. However with the last shot of the game, Mike Brandon's Bezerker's scored 2 points off of the Ultramarine veterans with plasma pistol fire, however a jam was rolled, followed by another, resulting in the weapon exploding, killing 2 Bezerkers and breaking them awarding Townley 3 points and thus stealing the game! This is the first ever 40k Final Brandon has failed to make, and consequently it is a first for Townley, ending his 2 year duck. It also makes Townley the first ever player to get Space Marines to a 40k final! The other Semi-final takes place today as James Brown's White Scars take on Adam May's Orks.

I managed to bring my white scars to victory last night against the greenskins. Was a good game with lots of death on both sides, I was horrified for a second tournament in a row at the devastating effects of the orc pulsar rocket.. my fast attack armys really do not like being pinned to the ground and vehicles span around to face random directions in turn one. Ended up losing all my vehicles appart from a few bikes, but luckily the damage was done. 15-11 to White Scars.. so its a Marine vs Marine final, when we have never seen marines in a final in 8 tournaments!!

The final can certainly promise one thing, it wont be a 5-5 draw by turn 4!

Between an awesome tournament and forum user's proving there's a demand, I really do think that OGC should do podcasts for its events. It Is Time for our next Ascendancy!
