IS?  The bible, faith is a pointless practice that most people resort to when there life is going to hell in a handbasket, and they are to weak to fix it themselves the bible preaches to us and yet it cant even keep its own stories striaght.Its full of contridictions left right and centre. everyone who reads it and finds comfort in the belief that there is life after death is disillusioned.one thing is sure death then.... thats it your dead like when you sleep and dream of nothing and wake and have no recollection of dreams thats what death is you are not Consciously aware your just dead, and what the bible has done is ruined many peoples lives because they wont live to the full in case they sin and end up in "hell" so they dont live. its very sad isnt it? |

well done for actually putting a topic in here, you sound a lot like me, it is most amusing arguing with people about the frailty of their beliefs.

I think faith is a good thing, but it must be a personal belief that works on whatever level you need it to.
Organised religion though is a paradox, if faith is suppsoed to be free and enlightening then why formalise it, mass religion is nothing more than a control mechanism

There are no facts about life after death, it either does exist or it doesn't. We are here to do the best that we can for future generations, and that is our greatest purpose. Sure, I disagree with organised religion, holding similar viewpoints to Mike, but faith has its place in all of our lives, whether it is in a higher power or yourself. It is basically the hope that things can become better... |

darn it appears there aren't any over-religious types here that's no fun, "if you want to believe in something that's fine but don't start fucking preaching about it to me" is my philosophy on religion

hope is nothing more than a way to ingore somthing and pretend you have no control. I would disagree on that, but can see your point. Hope is a great way to motivate yourself into action, which is what you're missing out. Laharl may have hoped that he would have won the video games event thingy, and it will have motivated him to do something about it, just like someone might hope to make the world a beter place, and so do something about it. |

If you want to argue about hope, show some style and illustrate your arguement with the story of Pandora's Box.
There are more annoying religions then the Christians to pick apart (they just have the hypocratic history of atrocities to look to).
Scientology anyone?
How about the 'New' Kabbalah? Anti-semetic Judiasm is amost as dumb as the aliens.
