It's a new MMORPG that's just reaching the end of it's Beta and should be out soon (if not now). It has one singular advantage to other MMORPG's, it's free to play online (as it is online only, that's a good thing). GOOD BECAUSE - as the name suggests, it's guild orientated. So OGC could spread in infamy. - it's free to play online. No crappy charges. Just buy the game and go. - it'll be full of normal people instead of just annoying rich kids without the crippling charges. BAD BECAUSE - it has good graphics (need an okay PC, although from what I've heard it can run on lower specs then ideal without much trouble) - only 8 people per guild. This is only in the Beta and could go up though. - only 2 people at once on a mission. Once again could change post-Beta, giving a variety of mission charges.
I'm psyched for this. Anyone else interested? If nothing else, I'll go on it alone then loan Mike the game to set up the OGC guild making him the head of it.

oh, release date is 28th april 2005, so not too long to wait if its on time! 8 members in guild will probably be enough, not everyone in ogc is gonna play it anyway.

I'll be online by then, and could well have the power too. But I expect to be a late comer.

You have no choice Mike, you need to open the OGC guild. It is the only option for. Come on everyone, PEER PRESSURE. Do it for OGC Mike. Do it for OGC Mike. Do it for OGC Mike. Do it for OGC Mike. Do it for OGC Mike.

in a moment of weakness i pre-ordered guild wars. hey was only £25.. hmm. gonna buy it anyway so thought mite aswell enjoy the perks of pre-ordering. i get codes to enter all the beta testing weekends before its release, and get items that wont be available wen the full game starts. il see if i can start the ogc guild, then hand over command to mike if he joins (JOIN USSS MIKE). if i cant hand over then i wont start it n run around on my own for months .

Well I just got back from lectrures, though I did have a blast on gw before. As feared my comp doesnt run very well, and it runs from the just bearable to the AIIIEHHHH. Took ages to find charly to and then we ran around but whenever I turn the camera my comp explodes

So the beta weekend is over. i found myself running around as a monk / mesmer, my preferred combo of everything i tried. However I left ther weekend with mixed feelings. Good Quests intersting enough and the world is nice Plenty of scope and its free (except you have to buy initially ) Bad Demands a bertter computer than its minimum specs suggest Not exactly original kinda reminded me of Diablo in 3d All the boasts that low levels could beat high levels with strategy was a load of crap. I got frequnetly battered by raw aggression players and monsters, your special skill powers run out, their advancing ultimately doesnt Remains to be seen as to whetehr or not I'll invest in thsi in the future (I'll need a big abd and expensive upgrade for my PC first )

The thing about levels not mattering is that the maximum level is 20, instead of having a massive race to level 100 (biggest loser wins). And once you reach level 20 the game actually starts, you go to the scorched version of the world. You start pre sear but the game really gets going post sear.

The thing is, this level cap thing is in everything. Its not unique to guild wars at all. And it is a race to the highest level, higher peopel will beat the crap out of you. Very uninspiring.

the level 20 cap is ment to able to be reached relativly quickly. consider it more as a training period for your character before the main game begins. the emphasis in the pvp is obviously based around team play, therefore no a monk probably wont be able to beat a warrior in a straight fight, but a monk as part of a team is equally as valuable and necessary as the hard hitters.
